"Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes..."

Posted: Tuesday, June 3, 2008

"I'm afraid it's time for goodbye again." So it is typical that I take for granted the things that just feel like they will always be there. I am sure nearly anyone can relate. I lived in West Seattle for five years. As those that know Seattle can tell you, West Seattle is maybe 10 minutes by car from downtown BUT it might as well be 100 miles. Many West Seattlites talk about the pain it is to have to go "into the city" while everyone else will explain why they don't come see you anymore, "it's just so far". I liked being away from it all but still close enough to be in the mix when I wanted to be. While I lived there much of my social life was spent running up hundreds of dollars a night drinking in the same spot. Every Tues and Wed night, and hell maybe a night or two more trough out the week were spent at the same table. Lynn asked me a MILLION times if I was driving that particular night as she handed me my eighth cocktail, knowing I was only half done. Christopher Michael was the karaoke host and is hands down the best DJ around, dance nights, costume parties, and Mari Gras were all memorable. Met a lot of "friends" there, had birthday parties, pulled some snatch out of the place, in general had some really great times. Hell people shot at us at that bar, had a few good fights, sang a lot of Karaoke, scored illicit substances in bathroom stalls, partied with old ladies on Tuesday nights, and when the whole city lost power for like 2 weeks some how they had power, and booze. I haven't been back since I moved, but I keep saying I will "go soon". As corny as it may sound, finding out tonight that my spot is closed for good made me sad. The place was a dive, a true "drunken fishermen and fat broads" sort of place, and now that's that. Sorry for the lame entry, and for the Billy Joel lyric. It is one of the few Billy Joel songs I didn't attempt to sing at The Corner Inn during my run. Most while nearly falling off the stage. RIP "The Corner"

    R.I.P. to The Corner.

Many a drink were shared there with some unsavory hooligans.

Its also the only bar ive ever been at where they didnt care if we had pizza delivered, or if we brought in our own McDonalds food from across the street and ate it at our tabl. Chicken nuggets, double cheeseburgers with Big Mac sauce, and bourbon and cokes FTW.

ps - i miss that straw fedora too.

I remember eating McDonalds there... good times.

I recall the exact moment Chris had his life changed, when I bestowed upon him the greatness that is the double cheeseburger w/ mac sauce.

Nick, you are still one of my heroes for that. Its the best, easily available, drunk late night food. Although the jackholes up here can never seem to understand the word "substitute". They just ADD Mac sauce, and leave the ketchup on there too. So i got a sloppy mess of a burger.

Still though, i dont know how i could repay you for that jewel of wisdom.

Although i put you onto Staffords, so thats a start.

You could promise to never vomit on his face while eating dinner? I do that for all my best friends.
