Anyone interested in Obama's campaign logo...

Christmas gift to my lady...

Posted: Friday, December 26, 2008
... I basically drew her Nemo.

And this is another one i did, in the same style, for her mom. (that i already showed, i know, but its my blog, so shutup)

I like this acrylic wash + bic pen style, i think im gonna run with it for a while.

Happy whatever it is you celebrate guys...

It is the first white Christmas I remember in a looong time and I just wanted to drop you all a line. Whether you celebrate Fistmas, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or something else I hope it is a good one. Last night I saw two trips to Hawaii gifted, a thousand dollars cash, I got a new dive watch and I made it something like 50 miles through treacherous snowy conditions that broke two chains on my car. Got home safe in the end and as per the norm it was great to see my family. Hope yours is at least as good. I am off to go watch that new Clint Eastwood movie.

Love ya all.

Snowpacolypse vol. 2.0

Sorry for the lack of posts the last few days, but i was snowed in at my lady's house since last friday afternoon. As Jake already told you folks (thanks for holding it down my man) we've had a bit of a winter storm this week. I initially went to my lady's place because there were warnings of strong winds, and my power tends to go out pretty easily at my place. So i didnt want to be in the dark, cold, and lonely as hell.

Anyway, these are a few shots of the driveway i couldnt get out of. I could have made it home once i got out of her neighborhood, but this driveway was keeping me in.

This is after my first attempt to get out. I took the time to get all the snow off the car, shovel out what i thought was enough snow, and put down some sand. I backed out halfway onto the street before i got stuck, then spent the next 10 minutes trying to get back into the driveway before a car came outta nowhere and slid into me. You can see where i had started out (and shoveled) and then where i ended up, about 7 feet to the left. What you cant see is the small brick wall on the other side of my car that i was precariously sliding towards with every loss of traction.

This is a view of the damn hill that tried to eat my lunch a couple of times before i made it out. Dont ask me who that is sledding. But she looks like an eskimo.

The Snowpocalypse is upon us...

You see that?

<--------Are you serious? I mean people here in the PNW can't drive in the snow, it is true. We even make fun of ourselves for it. We take the weakness in stride for the most part, but a bus? A bus went DOWN a steep hill, and lost control? Oh yeah and the bus was going down a hill that led right on to I-5? Imagine making that call to your boss?

"Hey Ted, hows things? It's Barry, so are you watching the news?"

Thats not even the worst part. The worst part is a second bus did the same thing and ended up spun around facing the wrong way DIRECTLY behind the first one. Imagine making THAT call?

"Hey Ted, home safe? Ok, have you talked to Barry yet by any chance?"

Anyway I have decided to call this freak winter storm in the PNW Snowpocalypse and as you all love me I expect you to follow suit. I want this name to catch on and for that to happen I need your help.

By the way I am at work today. How did I get here without flying off a hill onto I-5?

I will leave you with a few more random pics from work today. Notice the beautiful job I did shoveling the sidewalk in front of work, and the last picture shows the only way I will shovel snow.

So I shoveled our entire parking lot, our driveway, the sidewalk along the whole block, and the neigbors driveway too (she even gave me a jar of homemade pickles) and the only way to do that kind of shoveling?

Snow days...

Posted: Thursday, December 18, 2008
...so this is the view from my balcony. I was able to leave work at around 1pm today, to try to hit the roads before they froze up. Thats the good news.

The bad news is, im stuck in my apartment now, with no human interaction, and im going stir crazy already. Hell, im even contemplating making friends with my neighbors.

Either that, or my good buddy Sailor Jerry and i are gonna get to know each other real well tonight. Along with some real sugar cane Mexican Coke.

Wish me luck folks.

(and if anyone needs some design work done, i happen to have some time on my hands, get at me. I could use some more holiday shopping money)

You know you are old when......

Posted:

you stay home from work and go out to play in the snow with your niece and you last like 15 minutes before it is too cold and she goes for like 3 hours before she comes in cause she realized she wasn't wearing socks with her shelltoe's (and she didn't even have gloves on either).

So I used to think I hated everything about the city of Boston...

Posted: Monday, December 15, 2008
Then I realized it is for  most part a jealousy thing. See this last few years are a perfect example, Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, hell even Boston College has been handling it (although I have secretly loved them since they gave usMatt Hasselbeck, and Doug Flutie). I mean they can't all win a championship every year BUT lets face it they have all been in the running and at the same damn time. The hate has been mostly a Red Sox thing I guess. Then I realized something, I don't really hate the Red Sox, see I liked them when they hadn't won a title since Dinosaurs walked the earth, and in fact was pulling for them when Damon was a Neanderthal looking dude with long hair (He is just a clean cut, turncoat Neanderthal now IMO) , and the whole team looked like homeless dudes. I liked ManRam and his antics before it got old and he mailed it in to go to L.A., and of course I pull for the Sox every time they have to play the Bronx Bombers (who I think are basically the Darth Vaders of the sports world). I don't hate the Sox, as it turns out I just hate their fans. Well even that isn't true, as I don't have any bone to pick with real Red Sox fans, and lets face it if you have been a Red Sox fan for long it has been a tough rode to travel. Who I really hate are the new fans.

In particular the fans that seem to outnumber the fans in whatever park the Red Sox are playing. Like when they play here and all of a sudden every god damn girl in Seattle has a damn pink B hat, and every stupid frat boy has a beat up Red Sox hat (but the hats are probably called distressed since the douche bags buy them that way) on backwards while he is doing jaegerbombs at a Chinese restaurant in Ballard.

So I have a confession to make. I love the city of Boston, and I am going to tell why.

who the fuck is boston chris and why is he always commenting on this shit?!

So who is this guy Boston Chris? Well the short answer is he is extended family of the Warfare boys. He will have been a key player in a future move that will give some of you guys who are chomping at the bit to get some Warfare gear VERY happy. He is the second reason I like Boston (the first was Spre-Beast/Brightons Finest of OLD SCHOOL NT fame, wherever that guy is these days I hope my dude is well), followed up by Ed OG and the Bulldogs, and even Benzino(but really just for the gangsta points).

His boy is getting a rough deal right now from Boston PD and of course anyone who knows me knows I have been involved with graffiti a long time (1989's the number, another summer, sound of the fu....)

Spek ITD.

So shouts to Spek, man keep your chin up high, and your middle finger higher. In a time when most writers are busy going to art school and trying to sell bullshit graff on canvas' some cats are still hoodied up in train yards watching paint run in the cold. I respect that. I like my shit raw and unsolicited.

Pickup post...

Posted:
... New Sox fitted, LRG flashdrive keychain, and matches from El Gaucho. The matches arent really a pick up, but i had dinner there saturday night with my lady, and the dinner in itself deserves its own post (as usual from El Gaucho) but ill refrain from making the typical food post.

And since i had my camera out i took a few more pics. These are most of the gifts for my loved ones this year, minus a few that i cant show, cause certain people might be reading.

And if anyone out there is interested in a Monster Energy backpack, i got this one for sale. Make me an offer. Its a pretty slick backpack but i just copped a North Face one a while back so i have no use for it.

-chris

EDIT: i forget sometimes that we have readers all over the world. To clarify, El Gaucho is the premier steakhouse in the state of washington, and oregon for that matter. Every time i go (which is only once or twice a year, due to the price) i have the best steak ive ever had. It makes other steaks seem like hamburger, no matter where theyre from. I cant wait for the day when i can afford to routinely drop $200 on dinner, cause ill probably go once a week.

It has been a tough week folks....

For one thing the temperature in Seattle is hovering at about 28 degrees which is too damn cold for me. I mean when I was a kid I could be out in the snow all day wearing jeans and a hoody and now no matter how many layers of clothes I am wearing you can see my nipples blinging right through. I am now down a TV too. I don't even watch that much TV but it is really bugging me. I had been babysitting a 64 inch HDTV for a buddy of mine (since it wouldn't fit in his crib) and I had it for almost a year. He came and picked it up the other day, which is fine of course. I am reminded of last winter though when my power was out for almost 2 weeks. Like on the first night you are kind of into it, a few flashlights, a bunch of booze, maybe you get your lady to come over and pretend you are camping BUT it doesn't take long before you are bothered by it. Bothered by the cold, the inability to cook a meal, not having TV, your computer, the ability to charge a phone. Hell I couldn't even rely on reading since trying to read with a flashlight is not as easy as it sounds. Well that's how I feel now, I don't even really watch the damn thing that much BUT when it's gone all of a sudden I am reminded of the shows I WOULD like to be seeing (basically 30 Rock, and Earl) and of course I just get used to having it for background noise. I haven't played COD in a few days and I feel like I am going through withdrawals. Work is slow, the weather and the economy are making it painful to sit through a whole day right now. My Huskies closed out their season with not one damn win to show for it, and things got a bit messy with Tyrone Willingham. Then to top it all off my Seahawks went and won today, I pulled for those guys all year, and they let me down week after week. Not today though, today they pull off a god damn win putting a really top notch draft pick that much further away. Christ gentlemen, if you were going to win some games you could have started that A FEW GOD DAMN MONTHS AGO! Know when to lose!!!

Sorry for the rant, and just so that none of you think you need to call the authorities or put me on suicide watch let me just say that I had one of those Hot Pocket Panini things for lunch and it was pretty damn tasty so maybe things are looking up.

This made my day...

I cant believe this really happened. G.W. has some damn good reflexes i must say. (and is he smiling after he ducks the first one?)

Bikes again?...

Posted: Friday, December 12, 2008
...its pure coincidence to have two bike posts in a week or so, im not even into bikes. At all. Since back when i used to have to ride my bike to my job at the local grocery store, before i had a car. I havent been on a bike since the day i bought my first car when i was 18 or 19.

But i appreciate good design when i see it, and this is pretty sexy...for a bike.

Dont get your hopes up...

...its just a concept rendering... by a college student... in Italy.

Still though, maybe the boys at Lamborghini should talk to this dude.

And in a COMPLETELY unrelated topic, this is incredible. I never looked at it this closely before, but ill be damned if this thing isnt defying the laws of nature in some kind of way.

Happy Birthday to me...

Posted: Wednesday, December 10, 2008
These are the gifts i got from my friends. It looks as though they all think im a drunk.

I havent gotten the gifts from my family yet, so we'll see how that goes.

Huge thanks to everyone for the Sailor Jerry's, Maker's Mark, New Amsterdam gin, Sapphire Bombay gin, Rogue Spruce gin, Rogue irish lager, and the 2 cuban cohibas. And of course a special thanks to my lovely lady, for the Gucci cologne.

ps - i read a quote the other day that i liked, so i added it to the bottom of the blog, as a permanent fixture.

Who wrote what?...

Posted: Monday, December 8, 2008
Im not sure why the author isnt showing at the bottom of each post anymore. I have it set to do so, its just not working.

But if you havent figured it out yet, or youre a new reader, let me break it down and help you out a little bit:

A.) If the post is longer than a short paragraph, its probably Jake.

B.) If the text wraps around the photo in the entry, its definitely Jake.

C.) If the photo is centered, its definitely Jake.

Otherwise, its probably me.

Also, this is Jake on the left, and me on the right. (throwback i found, thats gotta be in like 02 or something)

PS - This is how that night ended. And no, thats not chili there on the ground my friends...

Today Chris is NOT just a day older than yesterday....

Posted: Sunday, December 7, 2008

Our man is actually a year older today. Today it is Chris's 27th birthday. Last night we had a bit of a surprise party, hosted, planned, and carried off flawlessly by his girlfriend D. We played pool, there was some cuban cigars, a lot of beer, some Black Label Supreme "Strong Beer" shotguns, a passed out cousin, some very pretty ladies, and a guy named "Big Tony" who is a pool shark. I left in rough shape, should NOT Have been driving but got home and even to work today. I am on my 5th cup off coffee and am starting to think 'll be okay. In any case lady and gentlemen do me a favor and wish Chris a happy born date, cause lets face it 27 is getting old.

Chris fuck you, and I love you son. Was good to see you last night, good to meet a few of your friends I hadn't and always a pleasure to see the lovely D and her now married friend L (Damn...).

Hope today treats you right, I got a 9oz shot of Jamesons waiting on you next time you drag your ass to the city.
So please leave your birthday tidings in the comments, the guy will appreciate it.

If all goes well...

Time to look forward to 2009...

So, i drew a rooster...

Posted: Wednesday, December 3, 2008
...for my girl's mom, for Christmas. She likes roosters, like a lot of moms, and has some as decor in her kitchen. So i finally decided to draw something for her, after years of asking when it was her turn to get something i made.

So i looked at a few reference pics, sketched it out, and got down to it. I painted on an acrylic wash with some red, for the nutsack looking thing and the floppy head thing. Then i grabbed a bic pen and got to work.

About an hour later, i noticed i had gotten a bit carried away and it now looked like an evil zombie rooster...not exactly mom material.

But i framed it and im still giving it to her anyway. I hope she likes it.

Ill let you all know if it ends up hanging up in the garage or something.
