These are pics i took, the scan i did got a little screwy. Anyway, its hard to see the facial details so i took a few pics, none of which turned out very well. (but you can click on the pics to view them bigger, it helps a little bit)
Then i framed it.
I even got my arts & crafts on, and made a little tag for the back of the frame. Its all in the details folks.
Looks really good.
I've been looking into framing etc, but I've got to get prints sorted first.
How long would it take to cut the mounting board and frame? Is this a long process?
I dont even do the cutting actually. Theres a store called Aaron Brothers Framing and art supplies. I go there for all my frames, and they have pre-cut, pre-packaged matte boards for like $7 or $10. And if they dont have the color combo you want, theyll cut one for you custom. I think they charge 50¢ or $1 per cut.
Speaking of Aaron Brothers, (im talkin to you Jake) theyre still having the penny sale currently. (Frames and canvas' buy 1 get one for a penny)
yo thats piff I was waiting on the final product ..it looks real nice man
Thanks peter, the kind words are appreciated.
I dropped it off at my boys house last night along with some DVDs, a couple books, and some cookies my lady made. He called me 10 minutes later and said it almost made him cry, and if you know my dude Jimmy, hes not the crying type. So i'd say the overall "get well" package was a success.
That's a pretty good bison, although I must say I preferred the demonic rooster.
Makes me wish I had artistic talent.
Yeah, its hard to make a bison look sytlized and unique. I def bulked him up and made him more brolic than necessary.
wow... you do such nice stuff
Looks good. You're right, there isn't really a way to make a bad ass buffalo. How much is a frame like that from aarons? I've never been there, but theres one by me, so if I can get 2 for 1 frames I'm down. It can give me an excuse to finally print the poster you made a few months back that I keep forgetting to print.
Thanks nick.
Adam, that specific frame was $40 but there is a decent range of frames ranging from $20 - $60. So even if you go big and get the $60 one, youre getting 2 nice frames for 60, and thats hard to beat. You might want to hurry up and check it out though, im not sure how much longer the sale is going on, and it only happens a few times a year.
DOPE... crazy detail. wish i could see it in person.
the oregon trail would be proud
I meant to ask when you 1st started this...is it done with watercolor?
Its acrylic. Although i generally use acrylics the way most people use watercolors. I water them down a decent amount and do multiple light, thin layers.
