Better than The Wire?

Posted: Sunday, February 22, 2009

Well, I don't believe it. Not for one second. A guy at my work told me that Firefly was the best series ever. I am willing to watch it, but better then The Wire? The Sopranos? Seinfeld? Hell even Mash?

I got to be honest the number one way to turn me off to a movie or a series is to put it in outer space. Now the only reason I am willing to give this one a try is it is like cowboys in outer space according to Stabwound Joe who watched Firefly and said it was pretty good. Now the number one way to get me to give your movie or series a shot is to make it about cowboys, or knights (Okay that's two ways, but hell it's my god damn blog go get your own if you are going to pick me apart).

So first of all have any of you watched it? Liked it?

Secondly, and a totally different note. I am sitting here writing this on my bullshit old laptop (anyone out there want to sponsor the TWC with new laptops?) casually watching the Oscars, and it dawns on me that what irritates me about it is it is like watching other people throw a party, where they have invited all their friends and are talking about how great they are, and you are outside the window watching the party through the glass, having to wipe away the steam your breath leaves just to get a good view.

I mean the best score from some movie I have never even heard of? Then some jackass I have never ever heard of gets up and thanks 25 mofo's I have never heard of all so I can find out who won Best Picture and Best Actor. Well I can figure that out tomorrow.

Plus, Hugh Jackman is a wanker.

The word "wanker" has made it's way into American lingo?

Well, I overheard someone say yesterday while watching the Oscars that apparently there are no more american actors, it's all wankers and punjab's.

Yoooo kid. I really dig Firefly. I got the whole thing on DVD. The concept is pretty bad ass: cowboys and pirates in outer space. If you want a taste, rent Serenity. It was a movie based on the series that came out bout 3 years ago. Thats what got me hooked. I never heard of the show until I saw Serenity and that movie was CRUNK! Let me know what you think.

PS: Best series ever is The Shield! Vik Mackey would smash all yall asses!

Spank, i didnt write this entry, Jake did. Nevertheless, i shall continue to watch my gangster flicks.

But when im done with the Wire i might have to check out this space cowboy-pirate stuff. Send me your dvd set so i dont have to go rent it all. Cause if i told the little lady to netflix a series about cowboys and pirates in outer space she'd look at me like i was retarded.

as far as firefly goes the co-worker who lent me the series (still shrink wrapped even) said if i like it i can keep it so chris you can roll with my copy. dude likes it so much he buys the entire season whenever he sees it on sale to give away to potential converts.

    must be pretty good stuff.
