When i got home from work though, i watched The Big Lebowski and zoned out for a while, until i grabbed the sketchbook and drew good old Walter. Ive been kind of into drawing caricatures lately, dont really know why.
Last night i watched a Demetri Martin comedy standup dvd with the little lady and decided to draw him. It turned out looking a bit like one of the Beatles, but if youve seen this dude, and his hair style, it makes sense. Im not really "happy" with either of these sketches, but its good practice, and i feel like im doin myself a disservice if i dont try to keep my skills sharp.
ps - if you havent seen Demetri Martin's standup, you need to slap yourself...then go rent\buy it. My girlfriend hates fart\poop jokes and she laughed her ass off at the one poop joke he made. Plus, he said something about glitter that could not be any more true. The premise was basically how if you choose to use glitter at any point in your life, be prepared to have glitter on\around you forever.
"Glitter is the Herpes of craft supplies."
'Nuff said.
walter is dope.
i was in times square and a saw ginormous video of demetri martins new sketch show.
ill check it out.
no vegas update?
*slaps self*
Im a HUGE fan of caricatures. have been since way back when they made those Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, etc. caricature shirts back when I was like 12. Thats a part of why Im so into UndrCrwn, they still do 'em from time to time and Im a sucker for it.
MAN, i used to love those shirts. I'd copy them as a kid, as well as i could anyway.
And i find if i do a quick sketch, with no intention of finishing it as a piece, they always come out looking like a caricature anyway, so i thought id try to draw a couple intentionally.
Time permitting, im gonna try to do more in the near future. These two just seemed to be begging for caricatures.
Demetri Martin Stand-up = Genius!
Demitri Martin Important Things Show on Comedy Central = Retarded!
Its a shame cause I really wanted to like it.
