Anyway, on with the pics.
That's me with Danny. (He's the one with the awesome handlebar mustache)
This was the first "keeper" of the 7 or 8 salmon (silver) that i reeled in. The first 3 i caught werent clipped and therefore had to be relased.
The guy on the right in this pic is Danny's homeroom school teacher from when he was a kid. They still keep in touch and go fishing pretty often. This dude has been fishing for 65 years...and he still puked his guts out twice that day. (from sea sickness, for you slow folks) For the record, i was drinking Jameson and Long Hammer IPA all day and didnt puke, im taking that as a sign that i need to be out on the ocean more. In the old guy's defense, we were on a 28ft fishing boat 15 miles out in the Pacific, needless to say it wasnt a smooth ride.
This is how we celebrated reeling one in.
These were the ones we kept. Theres a 2 fish limit per person, per day. So since there was 3 of us, we could have technically kept 6. But we kept on catching wild ones we had to let go.
Being that im not man enough to know how to clean and filet fish, Danny took care of all 5 of em right there on the dock, next to the boat. Im not kidding when i say he literally handled all 5 salmon in 10-15 minutes. It was pretty obvious the man has done it more than a couple of times.
So anyway, this was easily one of the most fun times ive had in quite a while. I dont get out and try new things often enough these days, so this was a much appreciated adventure with my boy Danny.
ps - This is a little video i took of Danny showing off his big catch (sarcasm). For some reason i always find it hilarious when people pose for a pic and dont realize youre taking a video. Makes me laugh every time.

That is awesome. I went Salmon fishing out on the Puget Sound when I was out there last summer but didnt catch jack shit.
You eat any of that yet? Looks pretty god damn tasty.
Nice.
I enjoyed that post. Danny looks like a guy with stories too. You can just tell.
Yeah theyre delicious man. Got that extra good flavor too, just knowing i caught em.
Danny is a pretty cool guy man, hes got stories for days and hes just a nice guy. One of the best parts about fishing with him was that you could tell, that after catching probably thousands of fish in his life, he still gets just as excited when he hooks one as he did 30 years ago. The man just loves to fish.
I gotta convince him to take me river fishing in a few months. From what he tells me, when the ocean fishing season closes its about the time that the salmon start hitting the rivers to fatten up and go spawn. So you always get nice big ol fish in the river. I need in on that.
best. stache. ever. freddie mercury or magnum pi aint got shit on him.
Nice. Looks like a good time. Being in SoCal and about 10 minutes from the beach, I should fish more. Used to quite a bit in high school. Like once a week on twilight boats with my dad.
I'm REALLY liking that Jameson flask.
-J-
J, the lady got me that flask just the other week. Go check out your liquor store. She bought me a fifth of Jameson and it came with the flask, like one of those gift sets you always see around the holidays.
The bigger liquor stores usually have a lot more of the gift box type stuff.
