...i also did a little bit of jewelry mock-up work again for Ben Baller at Icee Fresh, in LA.
Its a piece for a pretty famous dude, and IF & Co are are setting the standard "that much" higher with some inovative ideas on this one. I cant show it or even talk about who its for until i get the ok to do so, so dont ask.
I didnt get to really design the piece itself though, which was a disappointment. Ben knew exactly what he wanted and i just executed it for him. Im hoping in the future ill get to really go after a piece for IF & Co and show them what i can do.

...so LRG relaunched their website with a new look. (Check it out at www.L-R-G.com its a nice asthetic)
Anyway, it looks like theyre venturing into the "container" game as they call it, which i take to mean luggage, messenger bags, and backpacks etc. Below is a couple of screenshots i took, and i must say, i LOVE the bags already. Mostly the canvas ones obviously, since you cant see much of the black joint.

Im a big fan of straps and buckles when it comes to luggage, as well as the clean strategic look of various materials being used to compliment each other. Plus the bags look sturdy as hell, which i like.

...but i just did. I seem to have an affinity to these "true crime" books. Lit up a CAO, popped the top on a 40 (i have no idea why, it was in my trunk), and finished it off.

Whoever Fights Monsters by Robert Ressler. Its about the history of serial killer profiling by the FBI. Written by the dude that made it famous. He goes into detail on pretty much every American serial killer you can think of. Its an interesting read, and i recommend it.
I also put in a little work on that new drawing, but didnt make much progress worth showing.

...The NIXON 51-30 Chrono. Black.
I will have this soon. Possibly very soon (get back to me Ryan)

I just dont know if i want the steel band, or the Rubber one. I like the extra knob on the rubber option, im not sure why they did that, but i like it. Either way, ill probably pick up an extra band or two to make it as versatile as possible.

If anyone out there has a hookup at NIXON, let me know. I could use it, the retail on this thing is like $450-$500. Although its cheaper in online shops etc.

...GIN AND TONIC MIST, you actually GET DRUNK BY BREATHING!
Im in.

"Starting today and running through the 25th, A temporary bar dubbed "Alcoholic Architecture" is popping up in London offering a cloud of breathable gin and tonic to it's patrons. The brainchild of culinary adventurers Sam Bompas and Harry Parr, Alcoholic Architecture creates a intoxicating vapor using the same ultrasonic humidifier system found in Antony Gormley's installation at the Hayward in 2007 called Blind Light. Patrons pay around $7 for hourly slots between 7 and 9pm where they can don protective suits and get drunk off the air. It's a novelty for sure, but $7 isn't a bad price for an hours worth of gin and tonic no matter how you look at it."
Could there possibly be a more refreshing way to spend an hour on a hot day?
I hope they serve Sapphire Bombay...

...A bottle each for myself and my lovely lady. Guess which bottle is mine...

Also in the pic above, and slightly more visible in the pic below...the rough initial sketch of my next drawing. The subject being an infamous/famous pic of a couple of NBA hall of famers. I actually plan on keeping this one for myself. But due to early initial interest in it, i may be making some prints when its all said and done. Ill keep you posted...

ps - i realize you can barely see whats the sketch looks like. Thats not neccessarily by accident.

...this is my favorite "new" beer in a long time.

Its brewed in Seattle by Elysian Brewing, and its delicious. I dont usually like flavored beers, and never really try them, but i like IPAs a lot and tried one of these at the brewery a few months ago. Loved it.
So, today i stop at the truck stop near my house, on the way home from work. Its a beautiful sunny day so i plan on getting some mexican cokes to enjoy with some rum, on the porch. While i work on this new drawing i just started (more on that later). So as im walking to the register with my cokes in hand, i pass the beer section. I didnt plan on stopping but for some reason this bottle caught my eye. Now, ive only had this beer on draft, and didnt even know they sold it in bottles so imagine my surprise when i read the label and there it was, the jasmine IPA. So i had to get some.
Also, i stopped by hell itself (Walmart) on my lunch break today, on a whim, to look for ammo. Assuming they were sold out, like most places. Turns out though, they got some .40 cal in this morning unexpectedly. So i scooped up two boxes. Its been my lucky day, i should probably play lotto. But instead im just gonna enjoy this delicious beer in the evening sun.
ps - you can also see the corner of my new BUCK knife. Thanks to my girl's dad for putting that in my "easter basket", along with a new turtle shaped black n tan tool. Manly easter baskets for the win!

...So check this out. I designed this logo for a friend of mine who opened a bar a few years ago. It was a sports bar with a hot rod theme. I was on retainer with the place for a couple of years and handled all the graphic needs. It was a nice place, i was there all the time.

Well, eventually the other two business partners who were in the business with my friend, decided they wanted to go in a different direction. They wanted less emphasis on the bar (where all the customers always were, and where all the money was made) and put more emphasis on the restaurant part of the business. They basically wanted to try to make it more of an Applebee's type place, and less of an independent bar with personality. Long story short, my friend didnt want to go along with all that, so he sold his share of the business and got out.
After which the two remaining owners went about getting rid of everything related to my friend. Which was quite a task because basically he had built the place from the ground up, and they were only financial partners. You could say it was a less than pleasant split. I wasnt a fan of either of the other owners, but business is business and I was prepared to keep working for them on retainer. Turned out though, that as far as they were concerned, i was a direct reminder of my friend who had just got out of the business. So the business partnership between myself and the Pit was over. I havent been back since. But my boy just told me to check out the website yesterday, to see "what they have done to your logo". This is what i saw...

I was baffled. I didnt really even know what to think. Its pretty obvious that they liked the original logo, but felt as though they needed to make some changes to it, so that it was "their" logo, and not a remnant of the previous few years. I cant get over how bad it is though. Its seriously terrible. I dont see how they could think this is an improvement over the old version. I mean, sure im biased but cmon. Any goon can see that this one sucks. The only consolation is that the place is definitely goin under. Its been losing money ever since the buy out. And its only getting worse, according to my friend.
ps - What i find really funny is that they obviously wanted a "metal" look. Below is some signage i had made, that had BEEN hanging up in the place for quite some time. But seeing as how they broke off all contact with me and my boy, they couldnt exactly contact me and ask for the file. So they went forward with that crappy gradient look.

In all honesty, i probably would have emailed them the file if they had asked me. Seeing as how they own the rights to it. But oh well...

...Its a XXL though. Never been worn, i just found it in my dresser drawer. Its printed on a Port & Company blank, so the quality is nice. Not some ol' Footlocker 5 for $10 crap.

If any of my bigger folks out there are interested, and got enough swag to rock purple, get at me.
(unless by some off chance that Jon Camaro is reading this, in which case, umm......i still got your shirt bud. Call me.)
EDIT: ITS BEEN SPOKEN FOR AND SHIPPED OUT. EXPECT IT IN A DAY OR TWO BEN.

...to find handgun ammo these days.

Big shout out to my man Jimmy for putting me onto a place that still had some .40 cal on the shelf. For you non gun owners out there who might not get it, its been rough lately.
Ever since Obama was elected the country's ammo supply has been flying off the shelves. People are freaked out that Obama is gonna go anti-gun crazy, so everyone's been stocking up. Literally everywhere ive been has been out of all the popular handgun rounds. Not to mention rifle rounds like 7.62 and 223.
So as you can see, it was a good weekend.
ps - i think this hell of a freelance job should be coming to an end soon, after which ill post all about how retarded its been. (i hope i didnt just jinx myself)

Still waiting for all those mysterious PR care packages to arrive in the mail.
Maybe they’ve gone missing. So brands, if you weren’t aware, get in touch with me ASAP for my address and sizing.
